ABC Animal Nursing Assistant Certificate (Level 2) as part of the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Animal Care and Welfare

We run courses from January each year and applications are open for our next intake. 

Course duration

1 year part-time (Blended learning - average of 1 day’s college attendance required every 6 weeks). 

 

Course overview

This qualification is designed for candidates seeking a specialised qualification to enhance their existing contribution in the workplace. The overall aim of the course is to prepare candidates for a career in animal care or Veterinary Nursing, based within a Veterinary practice.

To Include Functional Skills if applicable.

Entry requirements

There is no minimum academic entry requirement for this course but each candidate must be in either:

  • There is no minimum academic entry requirement for this course but as it is an apprenticeship, we need students to be in paid employment. 
  • Full-time (35 hours or more per week) employment in a Veterinary Practice (not necessarily an RCVS Training Practice).
  • Part-time (20 hours or more per week) employment in a Veterinary Practice (not necessarily an RCVS Training Practice).

Progression

Students who successfully complete the course may progress to RCVS Veterinary Nursing Diploma Level 3 if employed in a suitable RCVS Training Practice. Students will also require qualifications in Mathematics and English either at GCSE above C or level 2 key skills equivalent plus 2 other GCSEs above C which can be offered through LSVN.
